Kyle Lewis of Moore, Lewis, & Russwurm, P.C. was born in Lubbock, TX, in 1950 and grew up on a farm outside Ropesville, TX. He graduated from Ropes High School in 1969. He attended Texas Tech University and received his B.A. degree in 1973.
He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1976 from Texas Tech University School of Law. He moved to Dumas, TX, shortly thereafter to begin his legal career. He was one of the founding members of Moore, Lewis & Russwurm, P.C. in 1983.
Mr. Lewis is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in civil trial law since 1987 and in family law since 1991. He is recognized as one of the preeminent attorneys in family law in the Texas Panhandle, but frequently assists clients in other areas as well. He is also a well-known mediator who has mediated hundreds of cases in this area.
Mr. Lewis has been active in various aspects of the State Bar of Texas over the years. He has served in the following capacities:
Mr. Lewis was appointed as a trustee of the Texas Bar Foundation in 2013 and continues to serve in that role. Mr. Lewis is a member of the Panhandle Family Law Association, serving as treasurer, secretary and vice president. He was president of the organization in 2004 to 2005. He also received the PFLA Leadership Award in 2010.
He served on the planning committee and faculty of the Amarillo Area Bar Association Trial Institute in 2013 and 2014.
Mr. Lewis was appointed to the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists board of directors in 2003 and served a three-year term.
Mr. Lewis is a member of the 69th Judicial District Bar Association, the Amarillo Area Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the College of the State Bar of Texas, and the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas.
Mr. Lewis has been recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer in Family Law by Texas Monthly magazine from 2003 to present.
Mr. Lewis has been active in Dumas as well having served as a board member for many organizations including the Dumas and Vicinity YMCA and the United Way of Moore County.
He is married to Dr. Nancy Lewis, a physical therapist, who is an assistant professor at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Amarillo. She also owns an interest in Dumas Physical Therapy, LLC. Kyle and Nancy have five children.
